Five Key Factors That Affect Your Pot Plants In Winter
by: Cristina Diaz Garcia
Winter has an effect not only pot plants outdoors, but also indoors. Find out what are the key factors that affect your plants in winter and what you can do to help them stay healthy at this time of the year.
1. LIGHT is the very first element to consider. In winter, when the light is not so strong, you can place your plants closer to the windows, and rotate them regularly so all the leaves receive enough light.
Choose the most appropriate location taking into account the following window orientations:
-North: it doesn’t receive direct sunlight, but it is a good source of light for your plants. Most convenient in summer.
-South: it receives the most sunlight. Very convenient in winter.
-East: it allows early sunlight, which is very important for an excellent growing of your plants.
-West: it receives much sunlight, but its convenience depends on the amount of light the plant can receive.
2. TEMPERATURE is another key factor to consider because in winter we increase the temperature of the room via heaters, fireplaces and other heating devices. Plants suffer many times because of this, and we do not realize.
A Guide to Disposable Digital Cameras
June 29, 2010
Disposable Cameras (also called single-use cameras) first came on the market as film cameras. You would take the entire camera back where you bought it and they would crack it open, take out the film and process it, resulting in photos that were virtually indistinguishable from photos taken with a more conventional camera. Now, following the trends in conventional cameras, there is a choice between using film or digital disposable cameras.
Some people think digital cameras are too hard to use; the disposable digital cameras offer a solution. Disposable digital cameras still have all of the great features that attract people to digital cameras such viewing your pictures before printing and photo manipulation. With a disposable digital camera, you get a flash, a timer, and a viewing monitor (depending on the model you buy). This means that you can see whether you want to take the picture over or not, as you also have the ability to delete an unwanted photo, and retake it if you have the opportunity. Additionally, a free picture CD is usually included with your prints in a disposable digital camera package.
Fathers Day and Flowers
June 28, 2010
Father’s Day is about to be celebrated in Australia. The first Sunday in September.
Now traditionally Father’s Day is not associated with flowers. Why?
Mainly because fathers grow flowers and so most consider Dad wouldn’t like to get flowers as a gift.
This is in many cases not true. Dads are male and many, many males get a real kick out of getting flowers.(They aren’t known to include them on their “wish list”).
Think about it for a moment. You buy Dad socks and jocks and wonder, what else?
Well, why not take the socks and jocks along to your friendly florist and see what she or he can do with them. You will be amazed and your Dad will feel so special.
There are so many flowers, we florists call “Macho Flowers” Imagine your socks and jocks sitting amongst wonderful big red and orange gerberas, tropicals, like heliconias, gingers, bird of paradise, iris, proteas, banksias in a timber box he can use later to carry his essentials out to the patio to cook on the barbecue.
How to Make a Christmas Wreath

How to Make a Christmas Wreath
by: Alice Stacy
One of the great joys of Christmas, is doing things together. That includes everything from shopping and wrapping gifts, to cutting a tree, baking goodies, and making your own special decorations, like wreaths.
Even the children can help gather fir tips, and with a little help from parents, and some simple accessories like bows, bells, candy canes and berries from a discount store, they have great presents for aunts, uncles, grandparents and teachers.
Wreaths are made on a steel ring, with a good gauge wire. Check with your local craft store to see if they carry the supplies you need, or if you’ll need to order them online. This should be done a few months ahead of Christmas, in case it takes time to get the supplies.
However, the fir tips can’t be gathered until late in the Fall. The needles on fir trees need to “set”, and the tree must have stopped growing for the year. In northern states like Maine, it is recommended not to gather tips until at least early November, after three consecutive nights of temperatures that are 20F or lower.
Wars, Air of Ambiguity [for: Lt. Laura Walker] in SPANISH and English

Wars, air of Ambiguity
Dedicated to 1st. Lt. Laura Walker (From an old soldier/Vietnam Veteran)
[Advance] We fight in foreign lands not because we necessarily love its culture or land, but because we believe in pragmatism (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness); simply as it may be, it can be costly.
The Poem:
We all lose something in war And sometimes gain something: Idealism, physical, cynical (no blood in the face), Psychological, innocence-; We’re all victims of violence For sure? (accepted or not).
A character in a book dies in The clap of an eye-, In real life, it is not so simple, No dreamy solution. It is the duty of the soldier to kill (Or accept being killed); Just when, is when it becomes Complicated? Disillusionment creeps in?, As does an air of the unknown. In war there are only epigraphs; Death, to a part of the human race Is really what takes place? It starts as it ends, with The human effort exhausted.
There is nothing more admirable More brave, more flawless, Than one who gives their existence For another’s-especially in A foreign land! for pragmatism?

Animatronic Halloween Props - Cardboard Carpentry
June 26, 2010
One of the most inexpensive ways to create stonewalls in your home/haunt is by using good-’ol cardboard boxes. Boxes laid flat and painted to the desired effect are relatively easy and cheap methods of creating stonewall effects.
The availability of the material is stunning. In fact, most people and businesses are more than willing to give up large, bulky cardboard boxes taking up precious space. It’s incredibly lightweight and the amount of cardboard to re-do an average bedroom can be hefted by one person.
Another plus is that if your cache of cardboard is destroyed???.SO WHAT? More is always available, and except for painting time and material, free seems incredibly cost effective.
Cardboard is not only for just good for covering walls, it can be used structurally to create walls, columns, and facades and look good while doing so.
And the all so important off-season storage dilemma is covered here as well. Since cardboard is easily folded, it stacks well vertically or horizontally.
Acquiring Cardboard
So right now you’re probably thinking about you local grocer and how he helped you out with some boxes on your last move. Well unless carrots start growing six feet tall forget it!
Say it With Roses!

Say it With Roses!
by: William Berg
Many women and even several men know the value of sending flowers for special occasions. More than any other flower, roses are seen as the ultimate symbol of love and affection. But what many people don’t seem to know is the symbolism behind the roses themselves - they just buy what looks pretty. The colors, types, and display of roses have their own significant meanings, which should be taken into account when purchasing roses for that special someone.
If your relationship is strictly friendly, stick with pale-colored roses, as in general, they signify friendship. Pale pink and peach colors signify admiration, sweetness, and gratitude, which make these roses the perfect choices for floral gifts of friendship. Yellow roses, though a symbol of friendship, also signifies jealousy, so be careful when choosing yellow roses in a bouquet. However, to signify your happy feelings for your friend, a bouquet of red and yellow roses together is the ideal choice.
My Insight into Numerology

From time to time, we wonder about the mystery that exists in our day to day experiences and events that happen in our lives. Some parts of these events are beyond our control and some are not. We are all here to experiment the theory that we learnt before we decided to embark upon our journey in this lifetime. Sometimes life does not go as far as what was originally intended in the years of previous planning. Well, welcome to planet earth! It is, of course, alright to make mistakes in life as long as we deal with the experience in an appropriate way. In other words, your individual response to what happens to you in your experience or lesson is as important as the circumstance itself.
We are not perfect as a human race and we are far from reaching full potential in terms of our universal understanding, despite the technological advancement we have at the moment. Even with our vast amount of available technology, we are still far from what we can really achieve when we tap into the energy that is provided to us by the universe, yet remains still to be acknowledged by the majority of us.
Digital Wedding Photography: Myth Vs. Reality
June 23, 2010
1. Myth: Digital photos are pixilated or fuzzy. Reality: most people that say that have never seen a photo produced by a professional grade digital camera. The quality of modern digital cameras is equal of greater than film cameras.
2. Myth: Digital photos don’t last they will fade in a couple of years. Reality: Only the photo capture part is digital. The printing is done using traditional photo paper on the same paper and chemistry used to print film photos. So, both will last the same.
3. Myth: Digital colors are muddy. Reality: Only if they are produced with cheap, low quality cameras and/or the photographer doesn’t know how to adjust them and process them for printing
4. Myth: Digital photos are dangerous; the photographer can lose your photos.
Reality: Nowadays most photos are stored using Flash Cards that is one of the most reliable forms of digital storage. After the wedding the photos are downloaded to the computer and additional backups are created on CD or DVD allowing several copies of the same event to reside on different locations. In the case that photos are accidentally deleted they can be recovered using software. With film there is only one copy. It is not uncommon for the photo labs to lose the film, damage it in the printing machine, process it in the wrong chemistry, scratch it, etc. Film also can be damaged in camera, be fogged, damaged by X-rays at the airport, suffer color changes due to heat or age etc.
